With so many warehouses using them work for these types of forklifts is widely available. It is also a great thing to have on your CV and reach forklift training is offered by most training providers.
Getting Qualified
To become a qualified reach forklift driver you will be required to undertake five days of training and sit both theoretical and practical examinations. The theory exam consists of 20 to 30 questions with students expected to gain an 80% pass rate. Don’t worry though as the exams are typically very straightforward and are based on everything covered within your training program. Pass rates are also extremely high.
Once you have completed this you will need to take the practical exam. This usually takes around an hour and is in many ways similar to a driving test. You will be tested for the basics with examiners monitoring the number and type of faults you make.
For experienced drivers however courses can often be shorter. This is because they know many of the basic elements and will only need to cover the new driving style. This is very common as people are often qualified for many different truck types.
